Ji Sung Park - "Three-Lung Park."




The prolific Korean international was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson from PSV Eindhoven for £4million on a four-year-deal.

In 1999 his football career began by crossing the sea of Japan, leaving his homeland for J-League side Kyoto Purple Sanga. He quickly won his first international cap against Mexico in 2000 and became a regular in the Korean team. In 2002 he was selected for the World Cup in which South Korea were joint hosts with Japan.

Park became a national hero during the tournament, scoring the winner in the Korean's stunning defeat of Portugal which knocked them out of the World Cup and sent the hosts into the knock out stage. The team amazed thw world by defeating both Italy and Spain and reached the semi-final's only to lose 1-0 to Germany. In 2005 Park's home city of Suwon unveiled a road named after him, 'Park Ji-Sung Road' to honour his contribution to the team in the tournament

Park is reknown for his good attitude and strong work ethic which have helped him excel for both club and country.

United fans have given Park the nickname "Three-Lung Park." These nicknames stem from his impressive stamina, which enables him consistent play for a full 90-minute games.

Park's first official league goal came against Arsenal on April 9th 2006, in Manchester United's 2-0 victory at Old Trafford.
